It would be appalling if the administration were to deem it fit to increase the NIS pension age to 65 years as recommended in a recent report.
As it is with the present age at 60 years, I’m sure that statistics would show that almost 50 % of NIS contributors do not reach pensionable age.
With all the stress put upon us here in Guyana – high inflation, small salaries, 33.33% PAYE, 16% VAT, just to mention a few, many people in Guyana will not live to that ripe old age.
The working class people need to take a firm stand against this proposal.
