Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Broadcasting (ACB) Pat Dial said there will be no further sanctions against CN Sharma for statements made on his live call-in programme, but he again warned television station owners to be mindful of violating the terms of their licences.
The ACB had written to Sharma on February 26 after a caller made incendiary comments during a live call-in programme on Channel 6 on February 21. According to the ACB, the channel aired the following:
Caller: “The President was out of the country. As soon as he got back he knew exactly who did the massacre at Bartica.”
Host: “How do you know he knew?”
Caller: “He made that statement yesterday on the air
