Trophy Stall has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Trophy Stall-sponsored 15 overs softball cricket competition after defeating Regal XI on Sunday at the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Winning the toss and opting to take first strike, Trophy Stall rattled up 123 before being bowled out off the final delivery of the 15th over. Randy Ketwaroo led the batting with 64 that was decorated with seven sixes while Dindial Lachan offered support with 16 (2x6s). Suruj Arjune (3-20) and Mahendra Chunilal 3-22 led the bowling for Regal XI who were then bowled out for 100 from 14.1 overs.
Wasim Haslim with 24 (2x6s) and Raymond Harper 15 (1×6;1×4) were the lone batsmen to stand up to the bowling of Ravi Ramnauth (3-21) and Gary Singh 3-36 bowling for Trophy Stall.
Meanwhile, Regal XI failed to take the field for their second match against Ariel XI, thus allowing Ariel XI and Trophy Stall to advance to the quarterfinals, which will be played following the completion of one more zone next week, weather permitting.
