Two .38 warheads were recovered from the body of Marcyn King who was shot, execution-style, near her home on Monday evening.
According to a police press release a post-mortem examination revealed that the woman died as a result of haemorrhage and shock due to the perforation of the liver and heart due to gunshots.
A source told Stabroek News that one of the warheads was lodged in the woman’s back while the other one perforated her lungs and damaged her liver. Up to press time last night there was no word from police about any progress in tracking the gunman.
King, a mother of three and an employee of Rentokil Guyana Limited was on her way home when she was gunned down. Reports are that a man exited a brown car, approached the woman, shot her twice then fled the scene. Her killing has sparked much concern. On Tuesday the opposition PNCR called the murder a dangerous development and called for the security forces to redouble their efforts to prevent retaliatory killings. The party also called on government to take urgent action to protect relatives of persons on the police’s wanted list.
