The much anticipated West Indies vs. Sri Lanka tour that is to be hosted in the Caribbean from the March 22 to April 15, will see the two teams clashing in two Test matches, three One Day Internationals and one Twenty20 match.
The opening game of the series will be played at the National Stadium,Providence.
The Sri Lankans will oppose a Select Team prior to the first Test at the Providence Stadium. The three- day game, which was scheduled to be held at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda (G.C.C) was shifted to the Providence Stadium for the 18 – 20 March due to inclement weather.
The recent heavy rains waterlogged the GCC ground and disrupted the preparation of the ground making it unavailable for the warm-up game, thus causing a change of venue.
Twelve players have been invited to represent the Select Team, six of whom are Guyanese.
The players invited are: Kieron Powell, Jason Haynes, Steven Jacobs, Shamarh Brooks, Patrick Brown, Krishna Deosarran, Shemroy Barrington, Christopher Barnwell, Devindra Bishoo, Kemar Roach, Jason Dawes and Rajendra Chandrika. Reon King has been assigned as the coach.
The third-ranked team on the International Cricket Council’s list will face off with the eigth-ranked West Indians from March 22-26 in the first of two test matches.
