A man died in a crash at Rattle Snake Hill, Lethem on Friday last after the vehicle in which he was travelling spun out of control and toppled.
Mohammed Nazim, who reportedly lived somewhere in the city, died within minutes of the crash while three other men including the driver of the vehicle were air dashed to the city.
Stabroek News was reliably informed that the men were in the vehicle, which was going at a fast rate of speed, when the driver lost control. The vehicle turned turtle and they were trapped underneath it for a short while. Persons eventually went to their rescue but at that stage, it was confirmed that Nazim had died.
Speaking with this newspaper yesterday a relative of the dead man, who resides in Georgetown, said that she was uncertain about what happened in Lethem. The woman said the family was alerted to the accident on Friday night and after making a few calls learned that Nazim died.
According to her, Nazim was in Lethem on business. She said he went up there to work but she was unable to say what work he did.
Investigations into the crash are continuing.
