The Cola Cola Under-16 football tournament organized by the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) and sponsored by local beverage giants Banks DIH Ltd. continues today with six matches at two venues.
At Alpha United ground in Thomas Lands, Sunburst Camptown will tackle Plaisance United at 08:30 hours. That match will be followed by Georgetown Football Club against Mocha Champs at 10:00 hours while Alpha United will take on Beacons at 11:30 hours.
Over at Tucville Playfield in La Penitence, Pele will square off with Thomas United at 08:30 hours, Western Tigers will meet Crane at 10:00 hours and Fruta Conquerors will come up against Renaissance at 11:30 hours. Meanwhile, Conquerors and the University of Guyana (UG) have advanced to the semi-finals of the Supligen sponsored Under-20 tournament following victories in quarter-final matches Friday evening at Tucville Playfield.
Conquerors scored a 2-0 win over Alpha United with Keanu Loadeau scoring in the 25th minute and Trumane McKenzie netting in the 90th minute.UG scored a 1-0 win in their showdown against Western Tigers. The semi-finals will be played on Wednesday evening at the same venue with UG coming up Santos at 18:00 hours, while Conquerors will face off with Bakewell Buxton United at 20:00 hours.
The winners will advance to the final set for Easter Monday at the same venue. The winner will cart off a first prize of cash and other items valued at $80,000, the runner up side will take home $40,000, third place $30,000 and fourth $20,000.
