A suspected thief, who reportedly attacked police ranks while they attempted to arrest him, is in custody after being shot in his right hand yesterday.
Police in a statement said that at about 7:05 am yesterday, ranks responding to a report of alleged larceny caught up with the suspected perpetrator in Croal Street. “During efforts to arrest him, the suspect attacked the police with an ice-pick and a knife and was shot in his right hand by the police”, the statement said.
It said that he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was treated and sent away. The man is in custody and the ice-pick and knife were recovered by the lawmen, the statement said.
