The Government of Guyana is continuing to invite consultancy services for the evaluation of Demerara River crossing alternatives with a view to replacing the Harbour Bridge.
This call for proposals is being made under the New Amsterdam-Moleson Creek Road Rehabilitation Project, financed by the Government of Guyana/Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
“The Government of Guyana through the Ministry of Public Works and Communications proposes to construct a new bridge across to replace the current floating bridge subject to the confirmation of technical, economical, financial and operational viability of possible options,” the advertisement appearing in the Kaieteur News but not the Stabroek News said. The advertisement also stated that the Ministry had extended the closing date for expressions of interest to March 25.
The call was made to eligible consultancy firms from any member country of the IDB and they must include details of work in the same area of specialisation.
The selection will be based on the qualifications and relative experience of the firm, the advertisement said.
The evaluation will cover the engineering, economic, financial, social and environmental aspects of the options presented. It said that the Terms of Reference (TOR) can be obtained upon request from the Works Services Group of the Ministry.
