Early yesterday morning, the Texaco Gas Station on Vlissengen Road was broken into and robbed of a quantity of items.
When this newspaper visited the scene of the incident the proprietor of the business, Steve Chung explained that the culprit(s) broke into the gas station’s supermarket by lifting up one of the zinc sheets on the roof and breaching the ceiling to enter the building.
Chung explained that since the supermarket is practically soundproof the security guard on duty was unable to hear anything from outside. According to him the break and enter occurred between the hours of midnight and 6:30 am.
He explained that his brother-in-law arrived shortly after 6:30 am yesterday morning to open the business and discovered the store in disarray and the ceiling damaged. Chung said the police were informed at 7 am, however, up to 9:45 am the police had not yet visited the scene.
The businessman said that this would make the fifth time his business place has been broken into and robbed in recent times and to date no one has been arrested for the crimes. He pointed out that he has suffered an approximate $3 million in losses and hopes that some action is taken to find the culprits.
