Guyanese and former West Indies leg-spinner Mahendra Nagamootoo continues to create havoc among T&T batsmen, as he grabbed nine wickets in the latest round of matches in the Eastern Credit Union cricket league.
Playing for Central Sports against Couva Sports, Nagamootoo was almost unplayable as he grabbed 4/35 to bowl out Couva Sports for just 106 in their first innings. Also among the wickets was fellow Guyanese Lennox Cush who nabbed 4/45.
Cush then scored a solid 33, as Central Sports struggled to 149 all out in reply. Facing a first innings deficit of 43 runs, Couva put together a better fight in their second innings, reaching 194 all out. The right handed Nagamootoo was again in his elements, this time taking 5/67 – to end with match figures off 9/102.
Set a winning target off 152 runs, Central Sports reached 155/6 to claim the four-wicket victory.
