The three-day match between the touring Sri Lanka cricketers and a Guyana Cricket Board President’s XI ended in a drew at the National Stadium, Providence yesterday.
Sri Lanka, who had dismissed the President’s XI for 248 on Tuesday ended on 177-6 batting a second time.
Opener Malinda Warnapura followed up his unbeaten century in the first innings with a half century yesterday.
But, with a first innings lead of 244 runs, the game petered out into a tame draw with the captains Mahela Jayawardene and Shamarh Brooks deputizing for the injured Patrick Browne,(sore knee)agreeing to call off the match during the tea interval.
Jason Dawes, suffered a quadriceps strain during the Sri Lankans first innings, returned to the field to remove Michael Vandort (01) and Kumar Sangakkara (17) early in the day.
But Warnapura rushed to his half century reaching the landmark in the over before lunch.
The Sri Lankans were 83 for two with Prasanna Jaywardene and Warnupura unbeaten on 12 and 50 respectively.
Dawes picked up those two wickets for twenty nine runs.
Warnapura retired out during the break bringing and his replacement, Chaminda Vaas, immediately smashed tow fours to bring up the Sri Lankans 100.
Vaas and Prasanna Jayawardene put on a partnership of 51 before Prasanna Jayawardene was stumped off Brooks for 36.
He batted for 140 minutes, faced 117 balls and struck three fours.
But Mahela Jarwardene and Thilan Thushara were removed cheaply as Sri Lanka slipped to 150 for 6.
Nuwan Kulasekara was on 12 and Vaas unbeaten on 40 (four bounbdaries, 77 balls, 120 minutes) at the end.
Davendra Bishoo picked up 3-25 while Dawes supported with 2-36.(KB)
