Former America’s Got Talent contestants Robert Hatcher and Clarence Chester arrived at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport early yesterday morning for the upcoming Calypso Fury Concert.
Tired from their long trip, but clearly happy to finally be in Guyana, they visited Stabroek News after a short drive around central Georgetown.
Chester, who is a member of the Calypso Tumblers group, is a Guyanese and originally from South Ruimveldt. He said he was really looking forward to performing in Guyana as it would give him a chance to finally perform for his people.
Derry Cox, Manager of the Calypso Tumblers, said the other members of the group were due to arrive on a flight last night. Silvan and Raymond Bartellete from St Kitts, Lamonte Goode and Michael Rodriguez of America and Kenneth Greenaway of Montserrat are the other members of the group.
Hatcher, fairly beaming, expressed his excitement at seeing St George’s Cathedral. The singer who recently toured Germany said he hoped to see some of Guyana before he leaves.
The concert will be held at the National Cultural Centre from tomorrow until Monday commencing at 8 o’clock each evening. The entire team promises that it will be a dazzling performance and one that should not be missed.
