Dear Editor,
Stakeholders are being asked for and have given support to the security services in their quest to stem the rise in criminal activity. This support must however be matched by the security forces complying with the rule of law and the improvement of the relationship with the public.
Against the backdrop of the stakeholders meetings being held over the last few weeks it is indeed pertinent to have the relevant authorities publicise the following information:
The Guyana Defence Force’s findings on allegations of torture –
What is the status of the investigation?
When can the people of Guyana expect a completed investigation?
When will these findings be made public?
The Ministry of Agriculture’s compensation to the affected farmers in Buxton –
How many farmers have accepted the compensation offered?
How many have not?
List the amount being offered or paid for particular plants and crops.
Certainly Guyanese deserve answers to the above.
Yours faithfully,
Everall Franklin MP
