The Guyana Darts Association (GDA) is gearing up to participate in the fourth Americas Cup championships and the 17th Caribbean Darts championships which will be held simultaneously in Trinidad and Tobago at the end of July.
The Americas Cup will take place from July 25-27, while the Caribbean Championships will be held from July 28 to August 2 in Port-of-Spain.
Officials of the GDA disclosed that the local association had already signed its intention to participate and will kick off preparation with several trial matches, the first scheduled for Thursday evening at the Clerical and Commercial Workers Union (CCWU) Sports Club starting at 6pm.
The Guyanese darts players will be looking for another impressive showing at the regional event following an outstanding performance in the Caribbean Championships staged two years ago in Barbados when Guyana won the prestigious Men’s singles title which was won by top local darts player Norman Madhoo.
Guyana also claimed Silver in the mixed doubles competition with Lallchand Rambharose and Jean Singh narrowly missing the title.
The local players will be going after the men’s singles and doubles, ladies singles and doubles, mixed doubles and team championship titles.
