The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) will run off its second trial match tomorrow (Saturday) in preparation for the North American and West Indies Rugby Association (NAWIRA) 2011 Fifteens Rugby World Cup qualifying series billed for the Cayman Islands.
The regional championships will take place from April 19 – 27 in George Town, Cayman Islands and will bring together the nine West Indies Rugby Unions and Mexico.
The winner will then move on to the next round of the World Cup qualification against the winner of the South American Regional B qualifier.
Barbados is the defending champion, while Mexico will be competing for the first time.
Tomorrow’s trial match will bring together a President’s 15 playing in green shirts against a vice-president’s 15 wearing yellow shirts at the National Park Rugby field starting at 4.30pm.
The trial match will be managed by national coach Sherlock Solomon and assistant coach Clinton Clarke
The referees will be Conrad Arjoon who will be assisted by Carin Carter and Sabiola Gray.
The vice-president’s team will be chosen from Alexander Atwell, Albert LaRose, Algernon Felix, Aluko Venture, Andrew Gordon, Claude Jackson, Cordwell Carrington, Elliot English, Jamal Yarde, Jose Felicien, Devon Spencer, Lancelot Adonis, Ryan Dujoy, Terrence McAlmont, Triston Fraites, Troy Arjoon, Troy Bascom and Wilfred Batson.
The president’s 15 will include Alwyn Etwah, Christopher Singh, Elwin Chase, Avery Corbin, Clive Montouth, Claudius Butts, Jason Prowell, Delroy Gordon, Dwayne Schroeder, Duane Parks, Jason Tyrell, Leon Greaves, Peabo Hamilton, Revon Williams, Thedore Henry and Walter George.
Meanwhile, Terrence Braithwaite, sponsor of the 2007 GRFU second division 15s tournament and the women’s 15s championship will present the trophies to the respective winners at a presentation ceremony immediately after the trial match.
