Debutants Bakewell Buxton Stars will face off against defending champions Pele while Fruta Conquerors will clash with Monedderlust when the annual Mayor’s Cup football tournament cont9inues at the Tucville Playfield.
The defending champs have named a strong side which includes Solomon Austin, Dirk Archer, Konata Manning, Travis ‘Zorro’ Grant, Calvin Shepherd and Troy Kellman.
The Bakewell Buxton Stars will not be loafing but will attempt to rise with Neville Gulliver and Kwame Moffat leading the team with support expected from Charles Garnett, Sherwin Griffith and Rawle Fredericks.
Ravin Choo will do duty between the uprights.
In tonight’s feature match Fruta Conquerors will look to Jomo Hinds, Devon Forde, Lester Peters and Neville Stanton with Alvin McDonald, Marlon Welcome, Sylvester Cole and Royann Thom leading the Berbice side.
Meanwhile, Alpha United and Uprising advanced after defeating Beterverwagting and Triumph United respectively on Thursday evening at the same venue.
Lance Browne, Anthony Stanton and Dexter Bentick scored in Uprising’s 3-0 triumph while Alpha United secured a 2-0 triumph a after a goalless first half through strikes from Gordon Henry in the 60th minute and Andrew Murray jnr., who scored five minutes from regulation.
