President Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday visited Tiger Bay in Georgetown and Good Hope, East Coast Demerara where he distributed hundreds of kites to children.
According to the Government Information Agency (GINA), this has become an annual activity for the Head of State. In 2006, more than 1000 kites were distributed and in 2007 another large amount was delivered to children in areas such as Tiger Bay, Sophia, Non-Pariel and Coldingen.
Meanwhile, another GINA release said that the estimated 100 vulnerable children under the care of the government at various homes also received kites yesterday from Minister of Human Services and Social Security Priya Manickchand and were also entertained at the National Park.
