A Lindener is ruing being enticed by the chance to make a “small piece” and picking up two men at the West Demerara bus park on Friday morning after they robbed him of his car, $15,000 and other valuables.Kevin Lawson of Amelia’s Ward, Linden told Stabroek News on Sunday, that around 11.30 pm on Thursday, he left Linden to travel to Georgetown with passengers in his motorcar, HB 5477, a white 212 model. According to him, after dropping off the passengers in Georgetown, he was in the West Demerara bus park around 1.30 am on Friday preparing to return to Linden when two men approached him and asked to be taken to the Back Road.
Lawson said he told the men that he was from Linden and was preparing to leave, but they insisted that he could drop them off and make a “small piece” for himself. The Lindener took up the offer and the men; one sitting in the front seat and the other at the back caused him to drive through Cemetery Road, where they said they were going to pick up a female.
Lawson said the men asked him to stop at a location where they bundled him out of his vehicle and proceeded to rob him. He said he scuffled with them, but they succeeded in stealing his cash, two cell phones and a radio set.
During the ordeal, the taxi driver said, the men also threatened to kill him. Lawson said he has since made a report to the Ruimveldt Police Station, but was yet to recover his vehicle, which he only recently acquired.
