Rohee said this recommendation was made after the Police Traffic Department visited the area and conducted an assessment. He said consideration was given to several issues, including housing development in the area.
Rohee was responding to a question posed by PNCR-1G Member of Parliament Vanessa Kissoon with regard to the speed limit in the area concerned, which is Amelia’s Ward.
Kissoon had asked Rohee whether he was prepared to amend the regulations to reduce the speed limit to 30 mph given that the area is now well populated.
The current speed limit for the Soesdyke-Linden Highway as far as Kara Kara is 60 mph.
