Omai intruder shot

Security officials at the Omai Mine site, Essequibo on Saturday evening shot a man on his wrist during a raid on the company’s concession.
The man of Friendship, East Coast Demerara up to press time last night was a patient at the Georgetown Hospital. Reports are that sometime Saturday afternoon the man was found on the concession where he was shot. It is not the first time illegal miners operating at Quartz Hill, next to the Omai concession had raided the mining site. Back in January a man was shot during clashes with security personnel at Omai. Police had also arrested four men who were part of the raiding party.
