A Pomeroon man is battling for his life at the Georgetown Hospital after being stabbed several times about his body during a fight at a mining camp at Kumaka in the North West District on Saturday night.
Twenty-eight-year-old, Gordon Blanche of Friendship Canal, Pomeroon was air-dashed to the hospital yesterday morning with stab wounds to his chest, neck, face and other parts of his body. Reports reaching this newspaper state that sometime after 8 pm on Saturday Blanche and other members of his camp were taunting each other. It was during this that one of the men became infuriated with comments made by Blanche and grabbed a knife and stabbed him. Blanche was rescued by his colleagues who made arrangements for him to be transported to the city. Police are said to be investigating the matter.
