A Lusignan businessman was robbed of $12M by four men, one of whom was armed with a gun, on Monday along the LBI Public Road, East Coast Demerara, a police press release said yesterday.
According to reports, Asif Shaffie, who was accompanied by a friend, was driving his vehicle towards Georgetown. At LBI at approximately 11:30 am a white motor car with four men, bearing number plates later discovered to be false, pulled up alongside and forced him to stop his vehicle.
Two of the men, one armed with a firearm, exited their vehicle and robbed Shaffie of $11.9M at gunpoint and escaped. The police are investigating the matter.
