Tonight’s Mayor’s Cup semifinal between Alpha United and Sunburst Camptown at the Tucville ground promises unmatched excitement and a highly-competitive game as Alpha United seeks revenge over the Campbellville-based team.

After suffering an agonizing 0-2 upset loss to Sunburst Camptown in the Georgetown Football Association’s (GFA) Banks Premium Beer competition last month, a star-studded cast of Alpha United players will be looking to accomplish their vendetta as they coincidentally meet Camptown in the semifinals once again.

Alpha’s Anthony `Awo’ Abrams and Andrew Murray jnr. have formed one of the most lethal strike combinations.

Murray is set to depart tomorrow for his stint with Sunderland in the United Kingdom, but coach Wayne Wiggy’ Dover assured last night that the 20-year-old striker would definitely be in the thick of things.

Add Gordon henry, Quincy `Naggas’ Madramottoo and midfielderSean `fatso’ Bishop who passed up on his opportunity to play in the Futsal Championships in Trinidad and Alpha’s team appears unbeatable.

Sunburst Camptown has been faulted for not converting on the many opportunities that their offence has opened up for them in this competition so far.

However, their key players namely Troy ‘Bugs’ Prescott and Telson Mc Kennon have so far stepped-up to the challenges thrown their way.

Another key to the success of Sunburst Camptown is custodian Richie Richards, who has managed to come up with crucial saves in their last two matches which were decided by penalty kicks.

The encounter is scheduled to begin at 8pm, and the organizers have promised better seating facilities as well as improved lighting in an effort to make the atmosphere more conducive to fun, entertainment and comfort.

In the curtain raiser which is scheduled to kick-off at 6pm, the Fruta Con-querors, with a formidable core of players including Devon Forde, Jomo Hinds, Neville Stanton and Delon Williams will attempt to send Uprising packing.

However, Conquerors will have their work cut out for them as Uprising will be fuelled by the momentum gained from their impressive win against Buxton Stars in the quarterfinals which had to be dramatically decided by penalty shots.

The finals of the Mayor’s Cup and the third-place match is scheduled to take place on Sunday at the same venue.

The first place prize is $500,000, while second, third and fourth-placed finishers will be awarded $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
