A 20-year-old man was remanded on a rape charge after he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s court yesterday.
Sherwin Fiedtkou of Mandela Avenue, East Ruimveldt was charged indictably with having carnal knowledge of a 16-year-old-girl.
The man’s lawyer made a bail application that was objected to by prosecutor Denise Griffith who said that there is a likelihood that Fiedtkou would interfere with the Virtual Complainant if allowed on bail. Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle ruled in favour of the prosecution.
The matter was transferred to court six and will continue on April 7.
