Charged with theft from hotel

A 22-year-old man accused of breaking and entering a hotel and stealing over $300,000 worth of items last year was granted bail when he appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Steve Sukhdeo of 435 Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo pleaded not guilty to a charge of break and enter and larceny and was granted bail in the sum of $75,000 by Magistrate Fazil Azeez.

It is alleged that on July 16 last year, Sukhdeo broke and entered the Double Day International Hotel and stole a digital camera, a video camera, a DVD player and an Xbox video game all valued at $310,000, the property of Harryram Bhola. The matter was reported and following police investigations, he was arrested and charged.

He will return to the Leonora Magistrate’s Court on April 24.
