The Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) says that its investigation into the allegations of physical and verbal abuse which were levelled against two members of its medical staff is still ongoing.
The medical institution had on Thursday last vowed to have the findings out on Monday. This promise of an investigation came one day after a report was aired on Prime News in which an accident victim alleged that she was verbally and physically abused by a doctor in the emergency treatment room.
“The GPHC would like to reiterate that it views the matter seriously and is therefore conducting a thorough investigation. A full statement will be issued when the investigation is completed”, the release on Monday read.
The complainant Charmaine De Mendonza had only implicated a doctor who she said assaulted her while using racial slurs.
The hospital in the release on Monday stated that it was concerned over the allegations made in the news report and that it involved issues that the hospital takes very seriously.
