The female army Lance Corporal who a Kaieteur News story had indicated was missing was off duty for the weekend and reported to work on Monday, March 31 as scheduled, the Guyana Defence Force said yesterday.
In a statement, the army said Woman Lance Corporal Amita Baird reported to work.
The article quoted relatives and said that they were shocked at the woman’s disappearance. It also quoted the woman’s mother as saying that she last saw her on Thursday when she left to attend a staff party at army base, Camp Ayanganna. The woman reportedly told that newspaper that her daughter was seen at the party but hadn’t returned home since. Calls to her mobile phone also went unanswered.
