Thirty-seven recruits at the Guyana Fire Service (GFS) on Thursday completed a development training programme in keeping with the agency’s quest to boost its capabilities and efficiency.
According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release Chief Fire Officer Lawrence David, after conducting the inspections at the ‘passing out parade’, said improved human capacity is crucial in fire fighting. “We have to constantly prepare all sections of its (GFS) operations especially the human resource component if it is to meet the high standard required,” he said. The fire chief also said that recruit training will complement on-the-job-training which is now being tailored to address the new demands expected from professional fire service officers.
