Mike Guyadin won his first major title for 2008 when he emerged winner of the Grand Coastal Inn Hotel’s Medal Play Golf tournament played last Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Course (LGC).
The burly Guyadin had a gross score of 85 playing with a handicap 17 to finish with a net 68 to win from a field of 30 golfers under splendid conditions for golf at the LGC. Top local female golfer Christine Sukhram finished second while Ian Gouveia was third.
Sukhram had a gross 75, six handicap and a net 69, while Gouveia recorded a gross 87, handicap 17 and a net 70.
Nearest to the flag was Raj Sankar.
Daniel Pereira, Duty Manager of Grand Coastal Inn presented the prizes and expressed pleasure on behalf of his company in sponsoring the tournament.
He also indicated Grand Coastal’s interest in sponsoring future tournaments.
Patrick Prashad, Club captain of the LGC, thanked the sponsor for coming on board and expressed the Club’s appreciation for assisting with the promotion of golf in Guyana.
Local golfers will be in action again this weekend but the sponsorship is still to be finalized.
