A 35-year-old man who stole $36,000 worth of items was jailed when he appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Edward Bam of 113 Duke Street, Kingston pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
It is alleged that on April 7 Bam stole two ice pitchers, three tubs and other items together valued $36,000.
Bam explained to the court that he pleaded guilty to end the matter and he wouldn’t mind serving “a lil time.”
He was given the choice between a $40,000 fine and an 18-month sentence – he chose to do the time.
