Dear Editor,
While reading your Wednesday, April 9th edition, I came across the headline, “Driver denies causing death of motorcyclist”. First, I must convey my condolences to the relatives of the deceased and what I am about to write about has no direct link to the headlined accident.
I have been concerned about both motor and pedalcyclists since the traffic lights have been installed. Whenever a vehicle stops ahead of the line at a traffic light, these motorcycle and bicycle users come from the back of the line and surround your vehicle like a swarm of pestering mosquitoes.
They occupy the space in the front and sides of your vehicle and you are left to wonder where they all came from so suddenly.
Are they not supposed to be in the line like all other vehicles? Then there are those bicycle users who seem to be oblivious to the traffic signals and dash about their business, no matter what the colour of the light.
If something is not done about this situation, one day an impatient driver might be at the head of the line and I shudder to imagine what might happen.
Let us all cooperate as we courteously use the roads, being cautious while considering that the road user behind and before us might not be careful.
Yours faithfully,
Leyland Mingo
