The police traffic department plans a stricter enforcement of speed limits along the roadways following its recent acquisition of 500 new radar guns.
Traffic Chief Neil Semple in an invited comment on Thursday told Stabroek News that the guns will be distributed to all the regions and the speed limits would be fully enforced.
Additionally the guns would be used on a daily basis by traffic ranks at every police station, he said.
The British High Commission donated the guns earlier this week to the Traffic Department and Deputy High Commissioner Malcolm Kirk at the handing over ceremony noted that last year there was a significant increase in road accidents and speed was a main contributory factor.
