Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on Friday granted $50,000 bail to a 19-year-old man charged with stealing a DVD player from his employers.
Joseph Messiah allegedly stole one Pioneer DVD car set valued at $160,000 from Gizmos and Gadget. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of larceny by clerk or servant when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
According to Brian Paul a supervisor at the store, Messiah sold the DVD player to a taxi driver and someone close to the driver told the store’s manager of the transaction.
After investigations, Messiah was arrested and charged. Paul told the court that the driver admitted to buying the DVD from Messiah.
The DVD is lodged at the Brickdam Police Station.
Messiah was ordered to appear at court on Wednesday.
