Dear Editor,
I am a woman living in the Mabaruma sub region of Region One. I am very perturbed at the manner in which the Mabaruma hospital is being supervised. Patients are left alone on many occasions at nights. Sometimes there is only one porter in attendance for hours.
Another burning issue that bothers most people who visit the hospital is the arrogant way in which those who are in attendance speak to the patients. They need to be courteous, a good morning, what is your name would be acceptable.
A few weeks ago two patients died, one because there was no oxygen, the other from a snake bite. The patient left for Georgetown but died in the city, perhaps lacking the right potency of drugs.
We need professionalism at this hospital from the top to the bottom. We need the right persons in the right place, we don’t need actors.
Yours faithfully,
Patsy Williams
