The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) continued to receive assistance for the 13th annual Caribbean Junior and cadet championships with contributions from Food For The Poor and Xxtreme Support Services.
On Friday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Food For the Poor Guyana Inc. contributed flavoured water while Xxtreme Support Services gave a monetary donation toward the meals of the players for the championships which end today.
Food For the Poor donated approximately 250 bottles of Propel Fitness Water to the GTTA. The water was used by all the players during the tournament.
And, Karen Abrams of Xxtreme Support Services donated USD$500, towards meals for the players.
Secretary of the GTTA Godfrey Munroe expressed his gratitude for the assistance from Xxtreme Support Services and Food For The Poor.
Munroe urged members of the corporate sector to follow the initiative of Xxtreme and Food For The Poor to help the GTTA cover the expenses of the hosting the tournament.
Public Relations Officer of Food For The Poor, Michelle Branker stated in a press release that her organization was not only committed to feeding persons in need, but also to help empower persons to manage their lives better.
Branker emphasized the important role that sports can play in the development of a country and said she hoped that table tennis in Guyana would continue to progress and help gain recognition for the nation
“Today our emphasis is again on the development of youth and we are contributing 250 bottles of Propel Fitness Water to the Guyana Table Tennis Association to replenish the players during these championships.
“We see these championships as a vehicle to not only produce excellent players in the future but as a vehicle that can propel our youngster to become disciplined and hardworking adults,” she said in the release.
