A 19-year-old was remanded on a charge of robbery under arms when he appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday.
It is alleged that on April 4 Brenton Charles along with two others robbed Tameshwar Jargoo of one silver chain and one Motorola cell phone valued at $34,000. Charles, a bus conductor of 1065 Diamond Housing Scheme, begged the magistrate for bail saying that he was a “malaria patient” and needed to get his treatment.
However, Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith requested that bail be refused since the accused was not a first offender. He has a similar matter ongoing in Court Five for which he was out on bail, and he had previously served a sentence for another matter.
Charles was remanded until April 21 when his matter will continue in Court Four.
