Woodbine manager murder

Police are reportedly searching for a Princes Street resident in connection with the murder of Woodbine Hotel manager Rawle Grimes whose battered body was found at Le Repentir Cemetery on Friday morning lying alongside his car.

The man had reportedly left Grimes’s 476 Back Circle, East Ruimveldt home with him mere hours before his body was discovered.
Rawle GrimesA police source told Stabroek News yesterday that the man who is being sought was reportedly the last person Grimes was seen with and may have been in his company on several other occasions.

Meanwhile a post-mortem examination was conducted on the man’s body yesterday and initial results show he died from strangulation and blunt trauma to the head, the source said.

This newspaper was also told that the police have made an initial check for the man at his home and the home of relatives but have not found him. Grimes’s relatives are optimistic that his killer would be brought to justice, and continue to insist that they believe that he may have been overpowered by more than one person.

Speaking to this newspaper from the family home yesterday, one of Grimes’s sister said they have been hearing rumours about different situations which may have led to her brother’s demise.

“All sorts of things we hearing, but I know that they will eventually find them because we believe in a God. I know is not one person kill my brother because he was strong and he would [have] put up a fight,” she said.
She said relatives were not giving up and remain hopeful that the killers would turn themselves in.

Police are said to be following several leads and are questioning several persons in connection with the murder.

The 29-year-old manager’s battered body was found with his mouth stuffed with cloth on Friday morning around 6.15.
Police had said in a statement that there were marks of violence to on his head.
