The Guyana Caribbean Network (website) (GCN) is deeply concerned about the restriction on Channel 6 operated by CN Sharma. We are particularly alarmed by last week’s closure. This is not the first time that the authorities have censored channel 6 station for airing criticism.
The government closed channel 6, claiming that an angry viewer was harsh in her criticism of the president, and channel 6 will remain closed for four months. Everything must be done to ensure Channel 6 is allowed to resume broadcasting.
