The Demerara Harbour Bridge (DHB) will be closed from 1:30 pm to 4 pm today to facilitate the replacement of a broken transom at one of its spans, the entity advised yesterday.
In a press release, the DHB Corporation advised that from 1:30 pm to 4 pm today, the bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic to facilitate the replacement of a broken transom at Span 27. Marine traffic shall be allowed to traverse as scheduled, from 2:30 to 4 pm, the release said.
“This corrective work shall see the reinstitution of the 22.4 tons weight limit. At present the weight limit enforced is 18.4 tons”, the release added.
On Tuesday the bridge was closed to vehicular traffic for a few hours after the broken transom was discovered and emergency repairs effected.
