GCB Carib Beer/Pepsi 20/20 semi final

Leguan will be facing a Chattergoon attack when they take on Albion Community Centre in the semifinals of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Carib Beer/ Pepsi sponsored national Twenty20 cricket competition at the Albion Sports Complex today from 1400hrs.
Guyana and West Indies opener Sewnarine Chattergoon, who recently returned from International duties with the West Indies in their Test and One-Day Series against Sri Lanka, will team up with siblings Ramnarine and Harrinarine in their quest to deny Leguan a spot in the final.
Having won their zone final against Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar without the services of Guyana’s latest Test player Sewnarine Chattergoon, Albion will be banking on his return to stake a strong claim to the final.
Add former Guyana Stanford Twenty20 player Imran Khan, Under-19 Inter County players such as Jonathon Foo, Sahadeo Somai and Manoj Pooranauth along with wicket keeper/batsman Shastri Persaud and the hard hitting Doodnauth Lallbeharry and the Leguan team may probably have regrets crossing all those rivers to play this match.
The Ancient County’s bowling is also a very strong one with former under-19 off-spinner Michael Chinsammy and national spin twins Veerasammy Permaul and Devendra Bishoo as the front line bowlers whilst Foo and Sahadeo Somai are also capable bowlers.
Essequibo left-arm spinner Trevor Whyte is at the helm of this team and he will be looking to Fahood Mohammed, Moneshwar Tappin, Hemraj Persaud, Rick Steven, Zaheer “Afridi” Razack and Kevin Gordon, who is also a bowling all rounder, to post a challenging total.
Their bowling may be a bit weak, but will still be managed by Whyte, Gordon, Brian Roopchand, Tyrone Narine, Dhanraj Ramsamooj and Heera Thipuwan and they will be expected to turn back the challenging bats of Chattergoon and company.
