Dear Editor,
A few days ago, I read the letter about the slogan on the side of the minibus being an insult to women but could not make out, from the blurred picture, what the slogan was and hoped that someone would enlighten me. A later letter did that.
When I read that the slogan was really the title of a song called “Move Bitch”, I could not help laughing, while admitting it is crude. Those of us who regularly watch American crime series would know that the term ‘bitch’ is often used by prison inmates to describe nice-looking, young male fellow prisoners, and no prizes for guessing why.
As a matter of fact, the term is sometimes used by police interviewers, as a threat, to get youngsters to admit wrongdoing, or face the prospect of going to prison and becoming “somebody’s bitch”.
The world is moving on.
Yours faithfully,
Geralda Dennison
