Guyana’s latest and Berbice’s 13th Test player, Sewnarine Chattergoon,was honoured by the Berbice Cricket Board of Control (BCBC) Special Events Committee at a simple ceremony prior to the start of the Albion Community Centre / Leguan Cricket Club Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/ Carib Beer/Pepsi sponsored Twenty20 semi-final match on Thursday.
At a simple ceremony held in the pavilion of the Albion Sports Complex ground, Chattergoon was presented with a gift and a special BCBC cap with the inscription (BCBC 13th Test player) by Michael Hyles, senior Berbice coach.
Chairman of the Special Events Committee, Hilbert Foster, noted that the entire county of Berbice was proud of Chattergoon’s achievements and called him the perfect role model for the county’s youths whilst highlighting the fact that his debut was a perfect reward for the discipline and commitment he had displayed.
In accepting the honour, Chattergoon stated that he felt humbled to be recognized in such a way by the BCBC and pledged to make Berbice proud in the future during his playing days.
Apart from the cap, Chattergoon also received a plaque which was donated by the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club.
