Successful captains of the four top teams and the Most Valuable Players (MVP) awards were presented by Mayor Hamilton Green alongside Kei-Shars representative Pinky Hutson yesterday at the Mayor’s Office, City Hall.
The Mayor’s Cup competition took place over a period of eight days; Alpha United defeated Fruta Conquerors and Camptown overpowered Uprising to take the 3rd runner up position at the Tucville ground, while all preliminary matches were contested at the Thirst Park Ground, Banks DIH.
In the Mayor’s address, he congratulated the successful teams, the not so successful ones and the organizers for tournament well executed.
He implied that meeting with small, medium and large scale businesses would be a positive factor for both the sport and the businesses as both will become successful and also believes that better systems should be put in place for the development of football.
After his remarks he presented the awards to the various captains; Leon Grumble received the Mayor’s Cup Trophy and a cheque of $ 500,000 while Neville Stanton of the Fruta Conquerors received the runner up cheque of $ 200,000.
Orlando Gilgous and Daniel Favorite received $ 100,000 ad $ 50,000 for Camptown and Uprising FCs respectively.
Elton Browne and Neville Stanton shared the MVP award and Kei-Shars representative Pinky Hutson presented the Most Goals Award to Neville Stanton.
