Guyana’s commissioner of police and Barbados’ chief of staff last week took over as chairs of the Caricom Standing Committees of Commissioners of Police and Military Chiefs at the ninth meeting of these bodies.
A press release said Commissioner of Police Henry Greene and Barbados Chief of Staff Col Alvin Quintyne would chair the respective committees for 2008-2009. The committees met in St Kitts to consider the decisions of the 13th Special Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government, which had focused on crime and security.
The meeting addressed the continued efforts on the development of a Regional Investigation Management System and the Regional Integrated Ballistics Information Network as well as several other related issues.
Police commissioners and military chiefs from countries including Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago also attended the seminar.
