Guyana’s most recognized bodybuilder, Hugh Ross, who is from the town of Berbice was honoured by the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) and the sports club also donated over $125,000 in educational and hygienic kits to the Guyana Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GABBFF) on Tuesday April 15 at the Club’s Office, Area ‘H’ Ground, Berbice.
He was honoured under the Tribute to Heroes Programme, becoming the 159th member along with other outstanding Berbice Sportsmen as the presentation took place during a courtesy call Ross and executives of GABBFF made to the sports club while in the district.
Hilbert Foster, CEO of the club, remarked that the RHTYSC was very proud of their fellow Berbician and also challenged him to use his success as a stepping stone for the less fortunate children in Eversham, the place of his birth, and surrounding villages.
Ross replied that he was delighted as the induction of his membership took place after he had received a trophy and other prizes. He made it clear to the Club that he would take his membership seriously and work along with the association in aid of making a difference.
Moreover, the RHTYSC took the opportunity to hand over the supplies which they donated to GABBFF in assisting the Federation to improve their standards and again challenged them to expand their activities to get youths to say NO to drugs and Yes to education.
Frank Tucker, the President of the GABBFF, received the donation and hailed the RHYTSC as a role model organization and added that with that contribution, it would assist in fulfilling the GABBFFs mandate.
