A man is nursing a gunshot wound after putting up a resistance when gunmen on Tuesday night invaded a Mahaica home and robbed the occupants before escaping in a waiting motor car.
Rajin Persaud and Raymond Yusuf were at the home of Ganesh Persaud when three gunmen invaded forced open the door and entered. According to a police press release, around 8.55pm, 39-year-old Ganesh Persaud, a labourer of Good Hope, his friends and two sons were watching television at his home when the bandits attacked.
During the robbery, Rajin put up a resistance and the bandit armed with a shotgun discharged a round at him, hitting him in the shoulder. “They proceeded to take away a quantity of jewellery, two cell phones and a DVD player from the victims and escaped,” the release said. Rajin suffered minor injuries to his left shoulder. He was treated at the city hospital and discharged.
