A rice farmer accused of stealing 28 bags of paddy worth over $160 000 from another rice farmer was granted bail when he appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Gindalall Bhola, 38, of Lot 31 Section A, Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo pleaded not guilty to a charge of simple larceny and was granted bail in the sum of $25,000 by Magistrate Fazil Azeez.
It is alleged that last Sunday at Vergenoegen, Bhola stole 28 bags of paddy valued at $168,000, the property of Bhoognarine Ramprashad. The matter was reported and following police investigations, the defendant was arrested and charged.
He will return to court next Tuesday at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court.
