The operator of STVS Channel 21/72 has regained rights to broadcast following a re-examination of the basis for the revocation of its licence by government back in November last year. The station restarted its broadcast some two days ago.
Asked what prompted the decision to allow the station to continue broadcasting, Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon told reporters yesterday that the licensee acknowledged that he had infringed the terms and conditions of his licence.
“The licensee made it clear that [he] intended to continue to broadcast and abide by the terms and conditions of [his] licence and deeply regretted the past infringement,” he said.
He said it was in that context that the ban on broadcasting for STVS was lifted.
Distinguishing this from the CNS TV 6 licence suspension, Luncheon pointed out that no threat emanated from STVS’s programming.
