Nine mothers will honoured at the Bernice Mansell Founda-tion’s annual mother’s day luncheon and cultural affair billed for May 11, at Le Meridien Pegasus.
Speaking to The Scene recently founder of the organisation, Bernice Mansell, said the luncheon is the foundation’s biggest fund raising event and each year honours mothers who have been outstanding in their field of work. She disclosed that usually members of the foundation would submit names of mothers they know and these would be honoured.
This year two nurses and two social workers are among those to be honoured. The mothers would receive hampers from a number of organisations who sponsor the event. In addition some written words submitted by one or more of their children would be read out as they are honoured. The oldest and youngest mothers in the group usually receive the lion’s share of the gifts. Mansell said that the cultural aspect of the event would be by way of songs and playing of instruments.
